Good bye Sinaloa, Hello Mexico City

It has been another wonderful day to complete this portion of my Mexican adventure. We arrived at the hotel to learn they did not have a room with 2 beds - no problem, we each got our own room.  After arriving last night we ventured out for a dinner and had a delicious seafood dinner at another recommended restaurant.  It was Valentine’s Day and the town was hopping and electrified.

After breakfast we explored a lovely river walk rather than the river cruise along the El Fuerte River.  It is a paved walk that follows right along the river.  Early in the morning there are many birds - chickens and roosters were our bird sightings.  But none the less a great walk.

Then a visit to the Fort and museum across the street from the hotel.  Lots of great exhibits but unfortunately very little English.  The views from the top were panoramic.

Time to pack and check out.  It was then that I discovered my bag of souvenirs was missing.  I realized then that I had left it on the train.  A fast trip to the office, a phone number and then good fortunate running into our driver who spoke English.  He called the train station and thankfully they found it still on the train.

It was then we decided to go into Los Mochis sooner.  The trip in was great and we saw what we had missed on our arrival as it had been dark.  We made a quick stop at a roadside bread stand. Although it says bread they were more like cookies and of course very tasty.  From there it was a colourful drive to Los Mochis passing many fruit trees and vegetable crops that produce our winter food.

After picking up the souvenirs at the train station, we headed downtown for lunch.  This area is suppose to have fantastic seafood.  We ended up at a very upscale restaurant where the woman in charge put together a seafood platter of 4 different dishes for us that was to die for.  I got so excited when it came that I forgot to take a picture.  I think it is probably the most flavourful seafood I have ever had and all for about $45, including wine.

Los Mochis is a lovely modern city.  It is only about 110 years old and quite different than most Mexican cities - no main square.  The beach is about 30 min away and sounds great but is mostly seafood restaurants and places to sit for the afternoon.  No hotels out this way.  A great way to end this portion of the trip.  The sun was sesteo g as we flew off on Aeromexico.

We woke up to this in Mexico City and 12 degrees at 7 am.
