Essaouria

I never get tired of this seafood city.  The sights visited are the same each time but there always seems to be something new to learn or see.  The ramparts along the water continue to guard the rough seas. And a short walk away are the hundreds of blue boats the leave the harbour every day to catch that wonderful fresh fish! A fresh seafood lunch was definitely called for. And  of course there are the resident seagulls, always willing to pose!

A delicious seafood lunch is a perfect way to finish a tour and a visit to the port.

The walk along the beach was still a bit cool but the beach stretches on and on for ever.

The Medina makes Essaouria a  fun place to poke around in.  You can look at an item without real  pressure to buy.  Bargaining was a bit more of a challenge as many places did not move off their price.  And then there were the sellers who thought they could start really high - time to walk away from those places!

Essaouria is a cat lover’s paradise - they are everywhere! They are curled up in absolute pure surrender to peace.  But watch out in the evening, they suddenly come alive.

I'm shy - hiding from the tourists!

Sunset wasn't fabulous but there was some color.

And suddenly we were on our way back to Casablanca - a complete circle of Morocco  had been completed - 12 stops, over 2000 km completed, rides on camels, vans, boat and train.  Lots of walking.  Lots of shopping.  Lots of learning.  Time for a farewell dinner at La Sqala, an early evening and an even earlier morning.   It was a longgggggg day returning to Canada but it was a fabulous trip with so many great people!
