Stirling Gin and Castles

Our visit to Stirling began with rain and wind.  First stop was the Stirling Castle with its marvellous grounds and gardens - so much green and so many colors.  The Queen and King’s living quarters (separate ones) were lovely but not over the top.  The ceilings in each room were different and each fascinating!  And the fireplaces were huge. The rooms had greeters in period dress to provide a bit of information.  Views from the castles of the highlands and town below were impressive.

All hail the king and queen

From there it was time to explore the town of Stirling.  I’m not sure I will get enough of all the beautiful buildings.  Stirling also has numerous statues.  We found the Rob Roy statue a perfect spot for an almost whole group picture.  I also found a liquor store - I had no idea there could be that many different flavours of gin.

The day was finished with a visit to Stirling Gin Distillery.  This is young company that opened just prior to Covid.  Fortunately on line orders kept them going.  As you can see in the pictures below the tastings were extensive and tasty.  This is definitely a boutique shop with gins being sold only at their store and on line.
