You’ll likely notice my Queretaro blog is quite short. Unfortunately I unable to go out with group for the two days as I had a slight stomach issue. Feeling great now!
Queretaro is a charming city. It is over 1 million people and really has two parts to it - the very modern city with its high and interesting buildings and the the old historic centre filled with charm, squares and parks. It is easy to walk around to just enjoy the vibe or admire the LeLe dolls are everywhere, including the street lights.
Another fun way to see the city is riding in an old electric car to see the aqueducts and beautiful buildings. An evening stroll involved some story telling and a surprise guest at the end of the show - she might have scared a few people with her unexpected arrival.
Restaurants, bars, coffee shops are in abundance. We enjoyed a lovely dinner at San Miguelito restaurant. The fun part for me was the waiter from 2 years ago was still there. The guacamole made at the table was delicious just like 2 years ago.
From Queretaro there are many attractions in the surrounding areas, including a visit to Peña de Bernal where you could climb the world’s second largest monolith. The town itself is also charming - a common theme of all the places we have visited so far. Then time to visit a Mexican winery, La Ronda, for a bit of wine tasting. The jury is out on the wines but it’s always fun to taste various wines and see how tastings are done in different places. One more town to visit before returning to Queretaro, Tequisquiapan which is famous for its various cheeses.
