Two fun and colourful activities were enjoyed by all. We visited the lovely community of Coyoacán. First stop the church and then a stroll through the main square. Of course there was time for churros and ice cream, a bit of shopping and enjoying the family activity in the square.

The big attraction in the area - the Frida Khalo Museum. The brilliant blue outside is a sign of what is inside. This was Frida’s family home and they have done an excellent job of telling her story. Certainly some was tragic and complicated. It is a popular sight - no more tickets were available for 4 more days.

The mirror above the bed was to allow her to draw self portraits while she was disabled |
And the fun continued as we journeyed out to Xochimilco, an inland lake with miles of canals and man made islands. We boarded our boat, Gloria for 2 hours on the water as we ate, drank, laughed and were entertained by the other boats and of course the mariachi band.
I’m not sure if visiting San Juan Pugibet is considered colourful in actual color but the variety of insects to eat is colorful!
Chapultepec Castle definitely fits the colourful bill and maybe just a bit over the top. Who knew there were castles in the Americas but this was one that was home to presidents and yes a real Emperor when one of the Hapsburgs (they did get around) ruled for 3 years.
